CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES

Based on our observations in SMP Muhammadiyah Sumbang, teacher was using Communicative Approach with material is greeting card in the class. The model is good enough in learning to the classroom, because the steps used are in accordance with existing regulations. It’s just that a little activity should be added so that all students can be active in the learning. The teacher must also be active in various ways so that the learning objectives in the class are achieved well. Because of this is communicative aproache, student must be active than teacher so the teacher should give encouragement to the students.

The observations that we did in SMP Muhammadiyah Sumbang about how teacher teach in classroom and what the methods are used in learning to the students. In the class, teachers teaches in various ways for understanding students know the materials. Each for students has natural preferences for receive information from teacher. So teacher must understand the characteristic of students to achieve the materials. As one component in teaching and learning activities, the teacher has a position that determines the success of learning, because the main function of the teacher is to design, manage and evaluate learning. Teacher must be able to choose method that is effective in the class so the students get and understand the learning objective that the teacher gave.

A. Learning Activities

1. Teacher opens the class with saying greetings to the students with Salam.

2. Students pray to begin learning in classroom 3. Teacher ask “how are you” in the student

4. Teacher review about the last meeting material

5. Students must be understand the learning objectives deliver by the teacher

6. Teacher divide student into 7 groups and consist of 4 members

7. Teacher give the instruction to the students about the material

8. Teacher give task to each groups

9. Student discuss in their groups about the task who teacher give

10. Teacher choose one by one group to present in front of class

11. Teacher give feedback for all of groups

12. Students submit their work to the teacher 13. Teachers close the class by saying Hamdallah.

B. The Weakness of The Learning Activity

1. Class situation is not conducive and in the class the situation is too noisy.

2. Not all of students are active in classroom learning and they are not expressing their opinion.

3. Teacher less in giving instructions and explanations to the students.

So when the teacher asks them, students not fully understand about the material.

C. The More Suitable Learning Activity

In our observation, in the conclusion that method is suitable for learning in class with the material greeting card, but we add more activity in class in our opinion:

1. Actually this method is suitable when the teacher gives more explanations to students and teacher must be clearly and details to give the instructions.

2. Teacher need interest method to explain the material to get the students attention.

3. The teacher must provide encouragement so that students can express their thoughts.

4. Better when the teacher gives the material to students, students must be write down the material in their own book before the task. So students can remember the material in their home.
